Parrots are tropical birds. There are many species of parrots. Pet parrots can mimic the sounds around them. They can even mimic human voices.
Parrots are known for their brightly colored feathers. They have curved beaks. A parrot’s foot has four toes. Two toes point forward, and two toes point backward.

Parrots live in the warm parts of the world. They can often be found in trees. Parrots often build nests in holes in trees or rocks.
Parrots hold their food with one foot while they eat. They often eat fruit. They also eat nuts and seeds. Sometimes parrots eat small creatures such as insects.
Parrots live in flocks. Females lay eggs in holes. The holes are often in trees or in the ground. A parrot can live up to 80 years in the wild.
