Swordfish
   
Swordfish have long noses that look like swords. The noses are flat and sharp. Swordfish use them to catch and cut their food.
Swordfish have dark backs. Their bellies are white or light gray. Swordfish blend in with the water. This helps them hide from their prey. It also helps them hide from predators.

Swordfish live in the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean. They are cold-blooded. They move to warm water in the winter. They move to cool water in the summer.
Swordfish eat squid, octopuses, and fish. They hunt at night. Adult swordfish don’t have teeth. They swallow their food whole.
Baby swordfish are less than 0.25 inch (0.64 cm) long. They eat plankton. When they are about three feet (1 m) long, they lose their scales. Swordfish can live for nine years.
