Arctic Foxes
   
Arctic foxes are cold-weather mammals. They can survive the most freezing temperatures. Their thick fur keeps them warm. They also hide from the cold in burrows.
Arctic foxes have fluffy tails. An arctic fox’s tail is called a brush. It helps the fox balance. Arctic foxes have small eyes and ears. They have short, pointed snouts.

Arctic foxes live in the tundra. This cold, flat land has very few trees. Arctic foxes often live near coasts. They can be found in Asia, Europe, and North America.
Arctic foxes eat almost any type of food they can find. They eat birds and bugs. They eat berries and fish. They also eat small mammals such as squirrels.
Female Arctic foxes give birth in dens. They can have five to 12 babies. Baby Arctic foxes are called pups. They can live three to six years in the wild.
