Zebras

Zebras are famous for their stripes. They are related to horses and donkeys. There are three types of zebras. The plains zebra is the most common.
A zebra can have black, white, or brown stripes. The stripes can also be gray or reddish. Zebras also have a thick mane.

Zebras live in Africa. Most live in open grasslands and savannas. Some zebras live in the desert.
Zebras eat plants. They eat grass, herbs, and leaves. They also need water. Water is hard to find in dry seasons. Zebras have to migrate to lakes and rivers.
Zebras live in a herd. A male zebra guards the herd. Baby zebras are called foals. In three years they leave their mothers. Zebras live approximately 25 years in the wild.
