There are many kinds of cottontail rabbits. Their name is from their tails. The tails are soft and fluffy. Cottontail rabbits can be found all over North America and South America.
Cottontail rabbits have long ears. Their eyes are big. Cottontails can be black, brown, and gray. Their bellies are white.

Cottontails are found in many habitats. They can be in deserts or forests. They can be in grasslands or swamps. They can also be in your backyard.
Cottontail rabbits are plant eaters. They often eat grasses. They also eat vegetables such as lettuce.
Female cottontail rabbits have four litters each year. Baby rabbits are kits. They leave the nest after two weeks. Cottontail rabbits live for approximately three years.
