Giant Pandas
   
Giant pandas are a type of bear. They are sometimes called panda bears. Giant pandas are known for the patterns on their fur. They live in China.
Giant pandas have thick fur. It is black and white. Their necks and heads are white. But they have black around their eyes. Their ears are black too.

Giant pandas live in forests in the mountains. The forests are filled with bamboo. They are cool and misty. Pandas can often be found high up in trees.
Giant pandas mainly eat bamboo. It takes a lot of bamboo to fill a giant panda. A giant panda needs 20 to 85 pounds (9 to 39 kg) of bamboo each day. Giant pandas spend 12 hours per day eating.
Female giant pandas have one or two babies at a time. Baby giant pandas are called cubs. Cubs go out on their own after one and a half to three years. Giant pandas can live up to 20 years in the wild.
