Sand Sharks
   
Sand sharks are fierce looking. They have strong, thick bodies and sharp teeth. Sand sharks do not have bones. Their skeletons are made of cartilage.
Sand sharks have eight fins. They have flat and cone-shaped heads. A sand shark’s mouth is full of sharp teeth. You can see its teeth even when its mouth is closed.

Sand sharks live in almost all the oceans. They don’t live in the Arctic Ocean or the eastern Pacific Ocean. Sand sharks usually swim in shallow water near the shore. But they can dive 650 feet (198 m) below the surface.
Sand sharks hunt at night. They hunt near the ocean floor. They eat lots of fish. They also eat squid, crabs, and lobsters. Sometimes sand sharks eat smaller sharks.
Sand shark eggs hatch inside the mother. They are born live eight or nine months later. Sand sharks are able to swim and eat right away. They can live for 15 years in the wild.
