Skunks
   
Skunks are famous for their smelly spray. It keeps predators away. The most common skunks have black and white striped fur. But skunks can have many different markings.
Skunks have small bodies and long, bushy tails. Their black and white fur can be many patterns. These colors make skunks easy to spot. Predators know to stay away to avoid being sprayed.

Skunks are nocturnal. They usually live in deserts, forests, and mountains. Sometimes skunks live in burrows made by other animals. Hollow logs are also common skunk homes.
Skunks are omnivores. They eat insects, small animals, and eggs. They also eat fruit and plants.
A female skunk can have two to twelve babies at a time. Baby skunks are called kits. They are born in a den. Skunks mostly live alone. They can live for three years in the wild.
