Boa Constrictors
   
Boa constrictors are snakes. All snakes are reptiles. Boa constrictors are great hunters. They do not have venom. Instead they squeeze their prey.
Most boa constrictors have brown or cream-colored scales. They have dark spots on their backs. The spots help them hide. Boa constrictors have very strong muscles.

Boa constrictors live in Central America and South America. These places have rain forests, forests, and grasslands. Boa constrictors hide in trees or under leaves.
Boa constrictors can open their jaws really wide. This allows them to swallow their food whole. They can eat mice and lizards. They also eat birds.
Boa constrictors give birth to live young. Baby snakes are called neonates. They shed their skin as they grow. Boa constrictors usually live for 20 to 30 years in the wild.
