Falcons
   
Falcons are fast birds. They are fierce predators. Falcons are known for swooping down from the sky to catch their prey. There are more than 30 different kinds of falcons.
Falcons have long, pointed wings. This helps them make sharp turns when they fly. Falcons have large eyes. This helps them see prey. Falcons’ beaks are curved. Their feet have talons.

Falcons live all around the world. Some live in forests. Others live on plains. Falcons do not build nests. Instead, they live on cliffs or in trees. Some use nests built by other birds.
Falcons eat reptiles and mammals. They eat insects. Some falcons eat other birds. They catch the birds in the air. A falcon’s beak has a sharp tooth. The falcon uses the tooth to kill its prey.
Female falcons lay eggs. When the eggs hatch, the parents care for the chicks. They bring the chicks food. Most falcons live alone. They can live for more than 12 years.
