Chimpanzees
   
Chimpanzees are smart primates. They use tools similarly to humans. Chimps also communicate in many ways. They kiss, hug, and tickle.
Chimpanzees have black fur. The fur covers all but their faces, hands, and feet. Chimps have big ears. They have thumbs just like humans.

Chimpanzees live in Africa. They can live in many different habitats. Some chimps live in rain forests. Others live in forests and grasslands.
Chimps eat mainly fruits and plants. They also eat insects. Sometimes they even eat small mammals. Chimps often use tools such as hammers to eat. They fish for insects with twigs.
Female chimpanzees usually have one baby at a time. A baby chimp rides on its mother’s back until it is two. Chimps can live 45 years in the wild.
