Baboons
   
Baboons are primates. People and apes are also primates. Baboons live in groups called troops. They make noises to communicate. Baboons can make more than 30 different noises.
Baboons have thick fur. Their fur is brown and black. Baboons have big heads. Their teeth are sharp. They have thumbs just like humans.

Most baboons are in Africa. They live in forests or savannas. Baboons stay mostly on the ground. They climb trees or cliffs to sleep.
Baboons eat many different foods. Sometimes they eat fruit or grass. Other times they hunt for food. Birds and fish are common prey.
A baby baboon rides on its mother’s back. Mothers raise babies for approximately two years. Baboons can live to be 45 years old.
