Deer
   
Deer have been around for millions of years. There are about 100 kinds of deer. Elk, moose, and reindeer are all types of deer. While-tailed deer are common in North America.
Deer can be many sizes. A deer’s coat can be brown or gray. Some deer have patches of white fur. Bucks are famous for their antlers.

Deer live almost everywhere. Deer often live near woodlands and fields. They live near mountains or swamps. Some can even be found in cities.
Deer only eat plants. They eat grass and leaves. They also eat tree bark and flowers. They will eat fruits and vegetables if they can find them. Deer are ruminants.
Some types of deer live alone. Others live in herds. A doe has one to three fawns at a time. Fawns leave their mothers after one or two years. They can live up to 15 years in the wild.
