Flies
   
All flies have two wings. There are many kinds of flies. Some flies bite. Some flies help bring pollen to flowers. Flies feed on dead animals. This helps clean up those animals.
Flies have two antennae. They use their antennae to smell. Flies have six legs. They have sticky pads on their feet. The sticky pads allow the flies to taste what they land on.

Flies live many places. They live in places that are warm and wet. Houseflies live near people. You might see them in your house or school.
Some flies eat nectar. Some flies eat dead animals. They also eat animal waste. Flies have a special mouth. It looks like a straw. It helps them drink their food.
Flies lay eggs. An egg becomes a larva. A larva becomes a pupa. The pupa becomes an adult fly. Some flies take a year to become adults. Some complete their life cycle in several weeks.
