Grizzly Bears
   
Grizzly bears are big and brown. They are wild and strong. The name “grizzly” comes from the word “grizzle.” Grizzle means to sprinkle with gray.
A grizzly bear’s fur can be blond, brown, or almost black. The fur has silver-gray tips. Grizzly bears have large claws and sharp teeth.

Grizzly bears are in North America, Asia, and Europe. They are only called “grizzlies” in North America. They live in forests. They also live in prairies.
Grizzly bears eat both plants and animals. They eat berries and nuts. They are good at catching fish. They also eat squirrels.
Baby bears are called cubs. They are born in dens. Grizzly bear cubs stay close to their mothers for approximately two years. Grizzly bears can live to be 16 to 18 years old.
