Hummingbirds
   
There are more than 300 kinds of hummingbirds. Most hummingbirds are tiny and colorful. They are famous for their flying skills.
Some hummingbirds have many bright colors. Male hummingbirds are more colorful than females. They usually have a brightly colored throat. It is called a gorget.

Hummingbirds live in North America and South America. They can be found in many habitats. Most hummingbirds live in warm places with flowers. Some live in cold places. They migrate to warmer areas for the winter.
Hummingbirds eat small insects. They also eat nectar. Some people put up hummingbird feeders. These feeders attract hummingbirds with sugar water.
Female hummingbirds lay two eggs at a time. They sit on the eggs to keep them warm. This is called incubation. Most hummingbirds live only a few years.
