Mako Sharks
   
Mako sharks are among the smartest sharks. They are also very fast. Makos are built for speed. They can swim as fast as 80 miles per hour (129 kmh).
Makos have large, black eyes. Their noses are long and pointed. Makos are small sharks. But they are very strong.

Mako sharks live in oceans around the world. They are usually found near the water’s surface. Some makos live close to shores. Others live far out at sea.
Mako sharks hunt down their prey. Makos eat many types of fish. They sometimes eat squid and sea turtles. Mako sharks also like to eat swordfish, and they both like the same environments.
Baby mako sharks are called pups. Mothers give birth to four to 16 pups at a time. Pups swim away from their mothers after birth. Makos live to be around 30 years old in the wild.
