Orangutans
   
Orangutans are primates. People and monkeys are also primates. There are two main groups of orangutans. They are the Sumatran orangutans and Bornean orangutans. Orangutans are friendly animals.
Orangutans have shaggy red hair. Their arms are long and strong. They have five fingers on each hand. Orangutans can grab things with their hands and feet.

Orangutans live on two islands in Indonesia. The islands are called Sumatra and Borneo. You can find orangutans in rain forests. Orangutans spend most of their time in the trees. They swing from branch to branch.
When awake, orangutans are usually looking for food. They eat leaves and flowers. They also eat a lot of fruit. They like mangoes and bananas.
Mother orangutans have one baby at a time. They live with their young as long as seven years. Adult orangutans live alone most of the time. They live up to 40 years in the wild.
