Penguins
   
Penguins are birds. They cannot fly. But penguins can slide on their stomachs. All penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere.
Penguins have white stomachs. Their backs are black. Penguins have flippers. The flippers help penguins swim fast.

Penguins live near water. They swim and catch food in the water. Some penguins live in very cold areas. They live on sheets of ice. Others live in warmer places. They live on sandy beaches or small islands.
In the wild, penguins hunt for food underwater. They eat fish. They eat squid. Sometimes they eat krill and other crustaceans.
Penguins lay eggs. Chicks grow in the eggs. Then they hatch. Penguins live in groups called colonies. Penguins live for approximately 17 years in the wild.
