Walleyed Pike
   
Walleyed pike are strong swimmers. They have marble-shaped eyes. The eyes allow them to see very well in dark water. This helps them catch their prey.
Walleyed pike have scales. Their bodies are long and thin. They are brownish-green. Some have silver backs and white undersides. Walleyed pike have many teeth.

Walleyed pike live in freshwater lakes and rivers. They avoid the sun. Walleyed pike swim in deep, dark water. They hide near rocks, weeds, and sunken trees.
Walleyed pike mostly eat other fish. They also eat crayfish and snails. They eat insects, too. Walleyed pike grip prey in their teeth. They hunt in dim light. They can even hunt at night.
Walleyed pike spawn in spring. They lay eggs in rocky areas. The eggs are sticky. They stick to rocks and weeds. This helps them stay safe until they hatch. Walleyed pike live for approximately 12 years.
